We engaged Portent to help with PPC, as part of their 'PPC Essentials' plan for small businesses. We chose them because of their claims about being leading experts in PPC. They convinced us we needed an "account audit" (US$800), which is no where mentioned on their 'Essentials' page. This audit basically consisted of a completely new set up on our Adwords account that appeared to be written by a two year old. The ad copy was so poor we asked them to rewrite it at least two times. When challenged about some of their logic, they sent long defensive emails by reply that showed us they really didn't look into our account in any depth. They then wanted us to pay in advance for the first month, however we were so worried by the lack of attention to detail we requested that they confirm they will provide a higher level of service, to which they replied that we needed to, "come to terms with their service and strategyā€¯! Basically saying that as a customer we know nothing and should accept second-class service and support. We have asked for a reply from Ian Lauire ("Chairman"), asking for a response or refund, of which we have received neither. Portent's commitment to their customers is pathetic. Avoid at all costs.
