Client Review on Checkmate Movers

Feedback:

I want to start by saying that I had no issues with the guys that showed up as the movers. They were efficient and personable. My issues came with the people behind the scenes. Two major issues: 1. During the move, a bathroom storage cabinet had one of its legs ripped off. This was something that had made it through other longer moves in the past with no issues. The movers let me know right away, and I figured no big deal, insurance will cover it. They didn't do it on purpose. I sent a link to the exact object to their office so they could send a replacement. Their reply was a snarky, "I didn’t hear anything about this" and that they wouldn't be covering it. This should have been handled better. 2. When we first put down the deposit, they ended up hitting our card 5x for the same amount. Luckily, this was resolved while they were still in the pending status. But then, we had another issue with the final payment. Upon the movers wrapping up, they asked if we wanted the final charge on the same deposit card or a different one. We asked for a different one and provided the information. A week later, the final charge came through on the original card. Not the one we provided on move in day. I find it very weird that they were able to process a charge on a card without our permission. All in all, move in day went relatively well, but the back office issues will keep me from using this service again in the future.
